South Asia Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Relief |

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all those who have suffered in the South Asia earthquake and tsunami disaster that struck on December 26, 2004, and hope that the regions affected will be able to make a full recovery in the near future.
After making an assessment of the conditions in the aftermath of the
disaster, the Hitachi group decided on January 27 to provide disaster relief as listed
below. Various local group companies not mentioned in this table are also currently
planning to provide support in the form of money and supplies.

Will contribute a total of 20 million yen.

Will provide free use of construction machinery and operator dispatch with a total value of 100 million yen. |

A seperate contribution of EUR 5,000 for the tidal flood victims went to " Friedensdorf International ", an organization which has transported aid into South-East Asia several times over the past few weeks. Around EUR 2,500 of this sum had been donated by the BHE workforce for the flood victims; this was then doubled by the management to a round figure of EUR 5,000.
